Background
Renee Calligeros, founder of Paddington Clinical Psychology, is a registered Clinical Psychologist, Board-Approved Supervisor, and Adjunct Associate Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of Queensland. She currently holds an Advanced Psychologist position within Children’s Health Queensland and has extensive experience across Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) and Adult Mental Health Services, providing care to children, adolescents, young adults, and their families.
As part of these roles, Renee has facilitated a range of group therapeutic programs, including the Triple P Parenting Program, Social Phobia Groups, the OCD Busters Program, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Skills Groups.
Over the past five years, Renee has worked within the CYMHS Eating Disorders Program, which delivers evidence-based treatment for adolescents with primary diagnoses such as Anorexia Nervosa, Atypical Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), and Binge Eating Disorder. During this time, Renee received monthly supervision from Dr Riccardo Dalle Grave, co-author of CBT-E for Adolescents, further developing her expertise in this approach. She has a strong passion for early detection and intervention in eating disorders and has delivered training, supervision, and presentations to organisations including Education Queensland, Queensland Health staff, the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC), and the Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED).
Current Practice
Renee has a particular interest in supporting adolescents and young adults experiencing eating disorders. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel understood and empowered to move toward meaningful change at their own pace. She also works with people who have a history of disordered eating or body image concerns that may resurface during significant life transitions, such as relationship breakdowns, pregnancy, or early parenthood.
Renee understands that eating disorders often co-occur with other challenges and takes an integrated, person-centred approach to care—considering each individual’s unique experience and circumstances.
In addition to her work with eating disorders, Renee provides treatment for a range of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders (such as Social Anxiety Disorder and Generalised Anxiety Disorder), depression, perfectionism, low self-esteem, and stress-related difficulties.
Renee also has a strong interest in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in children, adolescents, and young adults. Her interest in OCD developed through working closely with individuals significantly affected by the condition and witnessing the relief that can come from finally understanding their experience—particularly when it has been accompanied by distress, impairment, or shame. Renee utilises Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD.
She is committed to working collaboratively with clients and their families to develop a shared understanding of current difficulties and the factors maintaining them. Together, she helps identify meaningful goals for therapy and adapts her approach to meet each person’s individual needs.
Renee offers a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether her services may be the right fit for you or your loved one.

ADHD Assessments (Child & Adult)
An ADHD assessment takes place over multiple sessions and includes the following:
Comprehensive Clinical Interview
This includes an exploration of symptom history, severity, functional impacts, and potential differential diagnoses. The assessment also covers developmental, family, and educational background. Semi-structured interview tools (e.g., the DIVA) and standardised rating scales are used to guide the diagnostic process. A medical assessment may also be encouraged as part of the overall evaluation.
Information Gathering from Third Parties
Input may be sought from relevant third parties—such as parents, teachers, or partners—to provide additional context and insight into symptoms and everyday functioning across different settings.
Feedback and Recommendations
Once all relevant information has been gathered and reviewed, a feedback session will be conducted to provide a clear explanation of the findings, including whether the criteria for ADHD are met. Tailored recommendations are offered to support ongoing needs, which may include psychological strategies, environmental adjustments, and further referrals if appropriate.
